Split Block has 4 different modes. Each mode will perform a different task. Some modes will only be available if a specific type of block is selected. For instance, if you do not a text item selected, "Split Text to Characters" will not be available.
The different functions available are
Depending on the level of your software, you may not have access to all the different Split functions.
Please see the tutorial on Using Split Block.
The Manual Split Block is performed on "Outline Blocks" A block is split by drawing a line across the block where you want the split to occur. On blocks with holes in them, the split must go across the entire block. Splitting a blocks produces 2 separate blocks that can be edited individually |

Split Block to its branches with break a branched block down to its segments. This will normally apply to Text objects or objects that have been merged. You will not be able to split an individual character into its branches, until you first split the Text to characters. The image at the right shows how a branched block is constructed. In this example there are 3 segments which are grouped into a single block |

After Splitting the block to its segments, you will have 3 individual blocks. |
When Text is created the entire line of text is grouped. Even though the object list displays each character individually, the text as a whole is grouped into a single until. This group is maintained because Text items are unique in that they contain variables that are not contained in any other block type. Therefore, if you want to edit a string of text as if it were simple block data, you must first "un-group" the text. Most editing of text items can be performed without splitting to characters. However such items as Reordering require that the text be split |
Note Text that has been split to characters cannot be reconverted to wire frame. |
Split Outline is performed on objects that an Automatic Outline has been applied to . In the first picture at the right you can see that the letter was created with an automatic satin outline. The second picture shows the block after splitting the outline.
