Review each shape by selection from the options below

Rectangle

Ellipse

Star

Polygon

Round Rectangle

Special Curve

Running Stitch

Running Stitch recipe will apply a run stitch to the outline, The Run stitch can use any of the Stitch types available in your level from a single run to Motif

Satin Line

Similar to Run Stitch, the Satin Line Recipe applies a border stitch to the outline. The Satin Line recipe can use any of the Stitch types available in your level from a simple satin, to a Step fill to an Elastic stitch

Normal Fill

Normal Fill Recipe creates shapes with a uniform stitch angle. These shapes can have any of the available stitch types and Embroidery Settings applicable to the generic Normal Fill recipe from the Freeform tool.

Column Fill

Column Fill Recipe creates shapes with a variable stitch angle. These shapes can have any of the available stitch types and Embroidery Settings applicable to the generic Column Fill recipe from the Column tool.

Column Fill is not normally applied to the Full Shape, but is the preferred method when utilizing the "Enable Hole"  option as it provides a uniform width border for the shape.

Cross Stitch

The Cross Stitch recipe will fill the shape with  cross stitching

Spiral Stitching

Spiral Stitching is unique to the Shapes tool and is not available in the Special Curve.

Spiral Stitching creates a continuous running stitch that will fill the shape spiraling inward or outward.

Spiral Stitch Embroidery Settings

Running Stitch Length

The length of the individual stitches that make up the spiral

Distance

The Distance between rows of running stitches, similar to density

Direction

Determines how the stitching will sew (direction)

Inside-Outside

The Stitching starts from the outside, spirals inward and then spirals back out of the center between the rows of spiraling stitches

to the end point.

Placement of the start and end points can affect the stitching quality.

Inside

Stitching starts at the outside edge and spirals inward

Outside

Stitching starts at the inside edge and spirals outward

Applique

Appliqué Recipe creates all the necessary elements for an Appliqué block. The normal embroidery settings for Appliqué recipe apply

Star Fill

Star fill is normally used for small items such as buttons, eyes etc.. It is not  intended for complex shapes or large areas. The Star fill makes no needle penetrations in the center where the stitching overlaps, thereby eliminating the possibility for thread breaks due to too many stitches being sewn in a small area.

Star Fill Embroidery Settings

Density

Distance between stitch points on the perimeter.

Connection Angle

The angle between the intersecting stitches. The value is based off of 90 being the maximum angle between stitching (limited by density) increasing or decreasing from 90  will result in fewer stitches and less uniform coverage

Step Coverage %

If you are using this method on a larger shape, the outer stitching will be Step fill. This setting determines how much of the star will be void of needle penetrations.

Step Length

Length of individual stitches in the outer fill area

Variable Angles

Variable angles allows multiple stitch inclinations to achieve perspective in a design. The Variable Angle recipe should be limited to gradual changes in inclinations for solid fill areas, it can also be used to turn stitches around a curved shape. However, for this type of fill, Column  Fill would be a better choice.

Normal Embroidery Settings for Variable Angles from Freeform tool apply

Longitudinal Fill

Longitudinal Fill is similar to Spiral fill except the Longitudinal stitches sew back and forth from a set start point.

Longitudinal Fill is not intended for completely filled areas, should only be used on partial shapes or  shapes with the "Insert Hole"  activated.

Wave Fill

Wave fill is type of Normal fill that uses a variable stitch inclination  to generate the filled area.
See the Wave Fill Recipe in the Free Form tool for detailed information

Photo Stitch

Photo Stitch is used to render a stitch representation of a photograph. This can be a monochrome (black and white) stitch out, or  a color (CMYK)  stitch out.

Photo Stitch designs are usually large full sized embroidery. The detail you achieve will be dependant on the quality of the image.

Photo Stitch Parameters are discussed in Detail in the Photo Stitch section

Chenille

Chenille recipe is a specialized fill method for Chenille specific machines. This fill method is not used in normal embroidery.

See the Chenille Section in the Free Form tool for more information
