Searching for designs

Select this button and the Search in Data base dialog box will be displayed Note:

Specify the search conditions and then press Enter or click on OK. All the designs correspond to the search criteria that you have specified will appear in the window.

The Searching procedure works with the AND logic. This means that if you specify for example stitches from 10000 up to 20000 and colors more than 4, the search will be: "stitches>=10000 AND stitches<=20000 AND colors>=4" and not, for example "(stitches>= 10000 AND stitches<=20000) OR colors>=4."

The only exception to the above is the search using Codes.

If we select more than one "Code", then the And and Or radio buttons became enabled giving you the ability to search for the designs that have all the selected codes, or for the designs that have some of the selected codes.

EXAMPLE 1:

To search for all designs with color more or equal to 4, set "From Colors=4." Clear all other attributes.

EXAMPLE 2:

To search for all designs before a specific date, and for file names that start begin "Ca," select the "Up to date" to be "your desired date" and the "File name" to be "Ca*." The * is a wildcard meaning any file name that starts with Ca.

This will return designs such as Cat, Cap etc...

EXAMPLE 3:

To search for all designs sent to a customer, select The Specific customer on the Operators and Codes tab  from the Customers drop-down list.

Be sure to clear all of the fields you don't want to search.

Advanced File Search Tab

File Name

Search for a design by inserting the name of the design or by using the wild cards.

ANY COMBINATION button: If you must search for a name but only remember one character, for example "C," you can type the characters (C*). The program will start to search for all the names starting with "C" and display any other number or type of characters such as (Card, Color, Cat, etc.). The wild card (*) can be used without typing anything else and the program will find all the designs. If you type, for example, the wild card (*) and a character after it (S), the program will search for all the designs with an "S" as a last character, such as (Bells, Stitches, etc.).

ANY button:  The wild card (?) represents only one character in the name of the design. We can search for a design using this wild card in order to find a name that starts, for example, with an (M) that is followed by one other character (?). We can also type this character any number of times (if the only thing that we remember is the number of characters in the file name). For example, if you type (??????) the program will find all the designs with six characters (Design, etc.).

FROM SET button: By clicking on this button we can type a number of characters such as (C, M, K, etc.) and the program will search for all the designs that start with the above characters (C-card, M-march, K-keep). We can also make a combination of characters such as ([M, k]?a*) and the program will search for a design that starts with a character "M" or "K," which is followed by any other character (?), the character "A" and a number of characters after it (Meal, Meat, Meanwhile, etc.).

NOT LIKE button:   By clicking on this button all the characters that we don't want to search for can be excluded. For example, by typing the following combination of characters ( *[!S,!U] ) the program will search for the names that start with any character(s) '*' and followed by any character except "S" and "U" (for example, Earth, Wind, Flower, etc.).

Using the above search criteria, we can locate any design in the database even if we do not remember its name.
