Designs are normally saved to the hard disk in the C:\Des directory.

Save any design you want to edit later in the ERF format. The ERF format saves the outline data for blocks and text you create. If the design is not saved in (ERF) the outline data and formatting for the lettering data is lost.

For example, if you were to type a letter in a word processing program and print it out on a piece of paper, unless you saved that document to the computer in its original format, you would not be able to go back and make changes to the document. In much the same way, if you save the design to a machine disk or stitch only format like DST, you cannot read the design back into the computer and make changes to it as if it were the original document.

The design that you are saving must be the active design on the screen. To save the active design

  1.   Click the Save icon from the standard toolbar
  2. If you have not previously saved this design the Save As box will open.
  3. Type the name that you want to save this design. (You do not have to type the file extension)
  4. Click OK

Note

Always save your original work to your hard disk in ERF format. Hard disk space is cheap compared to the time it takes you to re- create a design.
