The Resize option is used to manipulate the size of the finished embroidery as related to the imported image. This option does not actually resize the original image  but changes the calculation of distance within the program as it relates to the image.

For example. If we were to create a line 1 inch long on the screen, the program records this as 1 inch. But we can tell the computer that what we actually want is a 2 inch long line for only a 1 inch movement on the screen. In this way, we get the desired finished embroidery size regardless of what size the actual image is.


In the example at the right we click and drag a line from the top to the bottom of the image as shown. The system tells us this line is  6.8 inches tall, but we only want the embroidery to be 5.0 inches tall. So, we input our desired length of 5.0 inches in the New Distance box and click OK.


Note

You could digitize the design at any size and simply resize it afterward. However for the best quality, it is better to create the design as close as possible to the finished embroidery size. In this way, you can pay particular attention to settings such as column width, stitch type etc..
