This function would could more appropriately be called “Group by color” as it automatically changes the sewing sequence to minimize the number of color stops.

For example, lets say you have a specific embroidery design of 3 letters. These letters are 2 colors as show at the right.

In this example , the digitizer stitched each letter individually sewing the inside of the 1, then the outside of the 1, then the inside of the 2 and so on. This resulted in a design with 5 color changes.

In some cases, this would be the best way to stitch this logo. For instance, it is difficult to keep the outlines in place (registration) on caps if you sew all the first color then all the second color. However, if we are sewing on flat goods, and there aren't too many letters, it is more efficient to group the colors together whenever possible.

From the Neutral Mode, Select Design > Reorder By Color

The System will find all the like colored blocks and group them together to sew at the same time.

This feature only works from the neutral mode and is not available in all levels, if the option is not click able, you either do not have a level of the software that supports this feature or you are not in the neutral mode.

After reorder by color, the number of color changes are reduced from 5 to just 2. Not every design will lend itself to this type of optimization. Layering must especially be considered

This feature can only work if there are separate objects in the object list for each color. Designs or lettering created with Automatic Outline for instance, cannot be reordered by color.
