Motif stitches are low density fill patterns used to enhance the fill areas of your design. The Motif fill utilizes a repeating pattern of a small stitch design. The resulting stitch count for areas filled with Motif stitches vs standard step stitches can be dramatically lower.

Embroidery Settings For Motif
Motif:
Select from the drop down list from hundreds of pattern to choose from. Click the Catalog button to bring up a list of thumbnails of the pattern motif types.
Max Width:
The width of the motif in the fill area
Max Height:
The height of the motif in the fill area
Distance X:
The distance between the motifs in the fill area. Normally this will be set to the same value as the Max Width, but can be changed to move patterns apart or together. Since Motif stitches are orientated to the stitch angle, this setting refers to the distance between motifs parallel to the stitch angle.
Distance Y
The distance between the motifs in the fill area. Normally this will be set to the same value as the Max Width, but can be changed to move patterns apart or together. Since Motif stitches are orientated to the stitch angle, this setting refers to the distance between motifs perpendicular to the stitch angle.
Restrict Motif:
This setting restricts the motif to the outlined area. The system will attempt to cut motifs into parts to fill to the desired outline. Depending on the Motif selected, this may not be possible, however, un-checking this option will result in only complete Motifs being sewn regardless of the outline placement
Offset X(%):
Shifts the placement of the Motifs by the desired value in the direction of the stitch angle. This setting moves all of the motifs inside of the outline.
Offset Y(%):
Shifts the placement of the Motifs by the desired value perpendicular to the stitch angle. This setting moves all of the motifs inside of the outline.
Offset Grid(%):
Shifts alternate rows of Motifs to allow a more overlapped appearance
Rotate Motif:
This setting will cause the motif stitches to rotate with the stitch angle. If not checked, the motif will stay straight regardless of stitch angle.
Symmetrical:
When Motifs are sewn alternate rows are inverted to maintain closest point connection. As most Motifs are symmetrical, this isn't noticeable. However, some Motifs are not symmetrical and thus this rotation might be undesirable. The Symmetrical check box will not allow the alternate rows to be inverted.
Prefer Stop for Multi Color Motif:
When using a multi color Motif, the system will assign needle numbers to the different colors. This option will insert a Stop code in place of the needle number for the color change.
