The Lettering tab contains controls for changing the keyboard lettering operation

Enable AutoKerning

Sets the system to automatically adjust the spacing between letters. Letters such as L and Y require unique spacing and will not look correct unless the spacing is adjusted. Auto Kerning adjusts this space automatically.

Show Advanced Embroidery Properties

In the Lettering part of the program, there are 2 different sets of embroidery settings. The Common General settings, and the Advanced Settings. The default setting for the system is the Advanced Embroidery Settings. This allows you to change any aspect of the stitches that generate the lettering.

An alternate set of embroidery settings is available by un-checking the option   to Show Advanced Embroidery Settings. This is an abbreviated list of the most common functions which you may find easier to use.

Bold Factor

Sets the value of the Bold button  in the lettering mode. This value can be positive or negative. Below are examples of different bold factors applied to a standard font. Results will vary depending on font style, but a -30% is normally the maximum that can be applied.

Space Character width

Sets the value of the space bar for between words etc.

Enable check of minimum ref line

Prevents the creation of stitches less than this specified limit. This is especially useful when creating lettering outside of its recommended range.

Ref line limit

The value in 1/10 mm to be used by the control above

Example

In this example we show the font Times Large at a letter height of 100. This is below the recommended letter height for this font (150). The reason this font has a height restriction is because at heights below 150 the serif's become very small (0.5 mm) which is really too small to sew. Enabling the check of the minimum ref line and setting the Ref line limit to 10, prevents the short stitches from being generated less than 1mm while not adding any width to the wide areas like Stretch or Bold would.
