The Export function is reserved to save designs or blocks into special parts of the program not directly covered by Save or Save As. There are 5 general options for the Export command.

Depending on the level of your software, you may not have access to all the different Export functions.

As Character

This function will allow you to save your selected item as a character in a font. This process is outlined extensively in the Create Your Own Font  or Edit An Existing Font  tutorials

To Library

The Library is is used to store designs or pieces of designs grouped by category for ready access.

Any item that is selected can be exported to the library. You may find this useful to store such things as trademark logos and registration symbol that you may past into designs many times. These small items can be tedious to reproduce so it is better to store them in a location where they can be quickly recalled at any time. The Library is  an ideal tool for this purpose.

The Library can also be used to store individual designs of a set.

Hand made lettering such as Appliqué Letters and such can be stored in the library making the process of pasting them together much easier

Exporting to Design Library

After the Export to Library option is selected the system will display a control similar to this.

To store your selection in any of the ready made catalogs, you can simply select the catalog you want to store your selection in, and type a descriptive name in the Block Name box at the top.

Click OK, and your design will be created.

The program will automatically create the thumbnail icon for you.

If you want to create your own catalog,  type the name of your catalog in the New Catalog box and click the Create button

Your new catalog will be displayed in the listing (alphabetically)

After exporting your selection. you will be able to access these at any time by selecting the Create pull down menu then selecting Design Library.

Outline to EMF

The Outline to EMF feature will allow you to export your digitized embroidery files to be used in traditional vector based drawing programs such as InkScape, Corel Draw, or Illustrator.

The result file can be used for screen printing, cutting signs etc...

Stitch files can also be exported, however, the output will be of individual stitches, not outlines as no outlines exist for these types of files.

To Plotter File

The Export as Plotter file will automatically extract the cut file from any block created with the Appliqué recipe.

The extracted data will be saved in PLT format which is a common file type used by most cutting machines.

This feature can also save manual or running stitch data to plt format for files that were not created in the erf format.

Care should be taken when saving manual stitch data to the plt format to ensure no other stitches except what you want to extract are selected

Exporting as Plotter File

The Process to export as Plotter file  is the same regardless if the block is an Applique block or running stitch block.
Click the block you want to export. You may find it easier to select the block from the object list.

Select Modify > Export > To Plotter File

A Save dialog will open

Name the file and click Save

The file will be saved as a file type .plt which can be opened by most cutting programs.
